Call for Expression of Interest

EV-K2-CNR has as a mission to provide specialized scientific support for sustainable development in high altitude areas, promoting environmental conservation and a better quality of life for local populations.

Ev-K2-CNR is looking for a Scientific Coordinator for the SEED (Socio Economical Environmental Development) Project, funded through the Pakistan-Italian Debt for Swap Agreement, in Gilgit Baltistan. For further information: www.projectseed.net

Role: Assist Project Director by supporting and monitoring researches, reporting and other related tasks.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Hold a Master's degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Policy, Agriculture, or other relevant degrees applied to developing countries contexts.

• Experience in working in collaboration of Universities especially in areas such as applied/field research  in developing countries;

• Good knowledge of international issues in environment and development;

• Knowledge of biodiversity conservation, natural resource management or protected areas management;

• Full proficiency (reading, writing speaking) in English. Excellent writing skills required. 

• Excellent computer skills; 

• Organized, with the ability to work autonomously and under tight deadlines;

• At ease working in difficult- insecure contexts;

Desiderable:

• Hold a PhD in a relevant subject is a asset;

• Knowledge of climate change adaptation and/or mitigation is an asset;

• Field experience in Asia would be an asset;

• Knowledge of Italian language will be considered an asset;

Starting date: May-June 2014 

Length of assignment: 6 months- renewable

Location: Gilgit Baltistan- Islamabad Pakistan
