Rome, March 3 – The first session organized by EvK2CNR at the prestigious Arctic Circle Forum Rome officially got underway today, marking a significant moment for international collaboration focused on the world’s highest peaks.
The session, titled "Scientific Diplomacy for the Third Pole,"brought together high-profile institutional voices to discuss the crucial intersection of scientific research and international relations in the Hindu Kush Karakoram Himalayan region.
Held in the Marconi Hall of the National Research Council (CNR), the panel featured distinguished speakers who explored how cross-border scientific cooperation can pave the way for political dialogue and effective climate action.
Leading the discussion were:
Senator Malik, Minister of Climate Change for the Pakistani government;
Prof. Francesco Corvaro, the Italian government's Special Envoy for Climate Change;
Dr. Marco Rusconi, Director for International Cooperation at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Their dialogue underscored the urgent need to protect the "Third Pole"—the vast storehouse of glacial ice outside of the Arctic and Antarctica—through shared knowledge and diplomatic engagement.
